Philippines Day 5

Once again we woke up early. We finally slept on a bed. We allowed our other family members to stay on the bed all the other nights that we were accompanied by someone. We traveled around lunch time and met up with our friend's condo that we were staying at. Our purpose in Manila was to take care of business and visit my cousins and aunt. I missed seeing them so much and didn’t realize it until I saw them. The first part of our adventure on our way to manila was the conversation we had with our mom. We got dropped off at Green Hills Mall and it was pretty awesome to buy stuff for such a cheap price. We bought my mom some dasters, which is a dress that older people wear here. I thought about getting one for myself but I’m too young for that stuff. Shopping can be a true addiction out here because everything is so inexpensive. We decided to get our nails done to kill time since no one was available until dinner time. It was only $3.00 to get our nails done. Yippy. After that we got a cab and gave the cab driver our location and he said he didn’t know where that was. Neither did I, so we hopped out of the taxi to wait for another. I realized that I couldn’t even explain to the driver where the location is. Its definitely not like Vegas where you have an idea where everything is and the drivers know where you get dropped off. I compare my experience to vegas because thats the only place Ive taken a cab in. So we took another cab and I did my best to not sound like a foreigner. After a few minutes being in the cab I was frantic but refused to show that. For those who know me, how I feel can often be told by the look of my face. I didn’t want the taxi drive to know that I wasn’t a native and that I didn’t know where we were going. We finally got to the condo. I was quickly realizing that this wasn’t the adventure I was thriving for. Its scary. Some of our family members kept telling us that it’s a central location, but it isn’t central to someone who has to wait around for a ride and inconvenience other people because they are incapable of figuring things out on their own. Its also scary because we are two young beautiful ladies and anything can happen. I wasn’t willing to take those risks, specially for my sister. At this point, I wanted to go home and was planning to shorten our trip by one day. I’m just not a city girl. I like quite areas and not a lot of traffic. Besides, my main reasons for going to Manila was to see my cousins. I could get my birth certificate online or something. We met my cousins at our condo and they were early. They took us back to Greenhills where we ate dinner. It was so nice to see my aunt and cousins and how they have grown up to have their own kids just like me. We ate so much and my cousin was kind enough to treat us.
